Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Staff that genuinely help — Guests repeatedly highlight the friendly, attentive service, from early check-in to dining tips. The reception team is described as welcoming and always ready to assist.
  • Quiet, calm atmosphere — The small scale and pool courtyard create a peaceful setting, with several guests specifically noting the quiet on the pool side and the relaxing balconies.
  • Strong value for the price — For a mid-priced 3-star hotel, guests feel they get a lot — clean rooms, good breakfast, pool and a central location — without paying luxury rates.
  • Great location inside the old city — Walking distance to the Sunday walking street, night market, and many restaurants, making it a practical base for exploring Chiang Mai's old town.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Facilities are basic — The hotel is not luxurious — the Facilities rating is the lowest category, and guests advise not to expect high-end extras.
  • Busy roads nearby — To reach the river and night bazaar side, you have to cross two busy streets, which some guests mentioned as a minor inconvenience.
  • No pets and adults only — The hotel does not allow pets and is adults-only, so it may not suit families with young children or those travelling with animals.
  • Limited on-site parking — While some guests booked a parking space on the street in advance, there is no dedicated on-site parking listed, which may require planning.

“The hotel was brilliant. As a single female traveller I felt very comfortable, the staff were lovely and very helpful. I arrived early in the morning and the room was ready for me, four hours before check-in, which was fantastic after a long overnight flight. All spoke good English and were welcoming and always smiling. They anticipated your needs and were always happy to help. The pool area is lovely, there are good computers and fast internet. The location of Vieng Mantra is fantastic, with easy access to Chiang Mai's attractions, lots of restaurants nearby and easy transport to others. Very good value as a mid-priced hotel. I highly recommend it. My best friend is going in July and has also booked it on my recommendation.”

“Perfectly located within the old city, within walking distance of most points of interest. Our room faced a quiet courtyard with a nice swimming pool. Well-designed hotel, clean, nice staff, and a good breakfast. My partner and I will stay again on our next visit to Chiang Mai. I booked a parking space outside the hotel well in advance.”

“Had a really nice stay here during our trip. We spent seven nights in this lovely small hotel and loved it. The property was really close to places of interest as well as the Sunday walking street market, and there was a restaurant on the other side of the street.”
